Here’s how ‘focused listening’ works:
1. Listen and write down.
First, you’ll listen to useful phrases many times. Then, you’ll write them down. This begins to make you comfortable with English sounds.
2. Listen again and read the transcript.
Next, you’ll check what you’ve written down. Does the sentence you’ve written down match the transcript? That’s how you find out which sounds you can’t hear.
This is your ‘Aha!’ moment! This is how your ears open up to the unfamiliar sounds of the language.
3. Listen and repeat out loud.
Listen to the recording again and repeat the phrases out loud. This helps you activate what you're learning so you can speak without searching for your words all the time.
Imagine how much your pronunciation will improve too!
IMPORTANT:
This system is only going to work if:
- You’re willing to study for at least 60 minutes per day.
- You really want this, and
- You know how having better English skills will change your life!
Are you still here?
Good!
